What is a typical day on the part-time course?


Monday and Wednesday

09.30 - 10.30 Feedback and Planning

The first part of the morning is dedicated to feedback on previous teaching practice and planning the next lessons. The session starts with a group discussion on the classes that were taught followed by grading from the tutor.

 

10.30 - 11.00 Coffee Break
International House Madrid has its own bar where trainees can have breakfast or lunch. Internet connection is free and some trainees use this time to check their email and keep up-to-date with friends and family back home.

 

11.00 - 13.30 Teaching Practice
These rest of the morning is devoted to teaching practice. The trainees teach a group of practice students - students who know that the teachers are in training. The tutor is always in the classroom to grade the lesson, and help out if teachers get into difficulty.
Trainees normally teach once a week.

 

Friday Morning
09.30 -13.30
This is the day that the tutors provide the input training on all aspects of teaching English as a foreign language. There are normally two sessions and the input is very practical-based.
Like the other days, time is dedicated to feedback and planning out the next week's teaching practice schedule.
