What is the IHWO Certificate in 1-2-1 Methodology course?
This course is designed for qualified teachers who have completed a CELTA course or equivalent. Because the course increases in complexity fairly rapidly, ideally, you will already have some experience in teaching 1-2-1 classes, as well as being a practising teacher with 1-2-1 classes currently being part of your timetable.

 

The course includes ten modules of three individual hour long sessions, a TP assignment, a chat group topic and recommended reading.

Course Aims
To give participants a solid grasp pf the main issues and techniques involved in teaching 1-2-1 whatever their context (e.g. General English in school, General or Business English with executives in company, Home Tuition etc.).

 

How many hours?
There will be 30 hours “contact” or session time, at least 6 hours of reading and research, 6-10 hours of TP (teaching practice), and time for preparation of the portfolio and final assignment.

 

Assessment
The final assessment takes place after the completion of the modules and within a timeframe of 3months. Assessment consists of:

  • A portfolio of homework tasks to be completed during the course
  • A final assignment which includes 1 hour of observed and assessed TP, a written Needs Analysis and Student Profile, and a course plan with commentary

Where is it run and when is the next course?
We will be running two part-time courses this academic year: a) from October 19,  2007 to February 8, 2008 and b) from February 22 to June 13th. The courses run from 10:30 – 12:45 on Friday mornings for 15 weeks in our Colón centre.

 

How much does it cost?
The cost of this 30 hour course is €435 Euros
